Design and Engineering Services for Complete DesignWho We Are
The team at Abbott on Call, Inc has over 35 years’ experience in designing, operating, and maintaining small boats. In just the past 5 years we have been involved in delivering 2 very specialized boats to government agencies, acting as the owner’s representative to oversee the projects. One is the Eddie Somers an icebreaking buoy tender and the other a bridge maintenance boat with a lift to put workers on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. We have also supported the USCG Office of Boat Forces for 20 years, providing specification development, source selection, construction oversight, and maintenance procedure development for the 1800 boat fleet. Our staff was part of the successful Response Boat-Medium (RB-M) acquisition and continues to support that fleet today as it passes its first 10 years of service. During the construction of the RB-M our personnel held positions at the Project Resident Office, were part of the configuration control team, executed engineering change feasibility reviews and maintained weight control documentation for the building of 174 boats. Today we continue these activities with procurement of the newest boats in the fleet.
Capabilities
Abbott on Call uses its Naval Architecture skills to support US Navy and Commercial ships in concept design, new build, and sustainment. We perform structural, electrical, and mechanical changes to the vessels. We produce finite-element analysis studies of local areas for reinforcement, and installation drawings, create detailed analysis reports and submit packages of these changes for ABS approval. AOC also provides services as the on-call Naval Architect for damage control, regularly receiving stability updates from the fleet.
